Food in the city

This is my first post in my new blog about food.  As many of you who will be reading this are my long time friends, you’ll know how much of a foodie I am. So over the past several months I’ve been compiling observations and pictures of places I like to buy food at and places where I like to eat.  I love food all kinds and I will be sharing my latest adventures in pictures and stories in this blog.

Living in Toronto, there are endless food events and innumerable places to buy interesting foods from around the world.  Back in the 80’s when I was still a relative newcomer to Toronto, along with my brother who’s a chef, we’d take the streetcar and across town and explore different ethnic neighbourhoods on the transit line.  In the process we discovered lots of markets and mom and pop shops serving homemade delicacies from different parts of the world.  Well, we both still do that a lot, however not so much together anymore but we still get quite excited when we discover a new pocket of food culture coming up here in the city.

Summer time is a great time to do some gastronomical and epicurean exploration and we’re just a couple of weeks away from  Summerlicious 2012, another event for which I have been known to spend too much time at, but who can resist going to an upscale place for a three course dinner for thirty-five bucks or so.

So, I hope you enjoy the blog and that you’ll also share some of your favourite foods and places.  I’m excited to post and hear from you in the comments!!
