LOV has been open for about one year and is a popular spot for weekend meet ups with friends. A nominee for one of Canada’s Best New Restaurants 2017 by Air Canada’s En Route magazine, LOV, is a short walk from Victoria Square metro station in Montreal’s financial district.
LOV is part of the trend for natural and simple, plant-based foods as they state values on their website.
We believe that the pleasure of eating must be accompanied by the pleasure of energizing one’s body and mind. That’s why we incorporate superfoods into our dishes – purifying and antioxidant foods that are essential to vitality. We make our customers benefit from their benefits while honoring what nature offers us.
Open for lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends, seating is on a first come, first served basis – they don’t take reservations.
I was told how busy it can be, so I arrive thirty minutes after opening on Saturday. It’s busy but tables free up quickly. Despite how busy it is, the wait staff is efficient and orders are taken and meals arrive quickly.
The vegetables in the frittata are a good variety and indeed fresh. Greens lightly dressed and crisp.
A more interesting menu item is the Eggs Benedict. A plate of cumin rosti potatoes, black bean salsa, avocado and Siracha mayo topped with two organic poached eggs.
Ingredients are the differentiator here, crisp, clean produce. The overall dishes are flavourful but not overseasoned the way some vegetarian restaurants do.
The brunch menu is modest, but there’s enough choice to satisfy any non-vegans as well. I think I would return to try some of the more hearty dishes from the dinner menu, like the gnocchi or the Hero 2.0.
I did enjoy the brunch and the decor will put you in a good mood with its brightness and whimsy.
The rushed wait staff do try to make sure you are enjoying your meal and your order arrives quickly. It’s worth another trip.
Bon appetit, friends!
